And actually - to all the Tassie Times crew coming through: how ya doing? Have a look around. Vent. Make suggestions or requests. Whatever.
The main reason I was dropping in this comment was to say this - One thing I notice is that when information and links are laid out like this, and the way that Lindsay does in TT and elsewhere - people really do click through to check these things out. The Web is, essentially, a vast sprawling mess of gems, fractals, ditches, and whirlpools. I personally appreciate it when somebody sorts through and says - this one, this one, this is a bit shit, that's essential, and if you like seeing Paul Lennon shat on you should have a read of this. Etc.
In a way, by mass-copying and circulating Out Of Control in a manner beyond what was first discussed on TT this is what Cousins has done. He has taken some very excellent info and narrative, and made it utterly available to people who would mostly have missed it otherwise. I think that there are some real lessons for all of us with an interest in communication in the information age in what is happening now.
There's a great quote on The Manic Times website at the moment, saying that Greenies won the argument, but lost the debate. It would be nice to see not just the fervour but the impact of the '80s movements revived and transcended in these times when they are sorely needed. IMHO. ;)

Hello, Has anyone had the time or inclination to respond to Julian Amos' amazing letter in The Mercury on 29 August. His letter, sent as Chairman of the Forest Industries Association of Tasmania, begins: "The arguments of those opposed to the pulp mill border on the surreal. Let us put some facts on the table.' And so it goes.......

We DO live in parallel universes here in Tasmania - par excellance!

t.i.n.a.: hey Dave - sounds interesting as only industro Newspeak can. Have just fiddled Mercury and google combos for 10 minutes with no luck. Do you happen to have a link in your browser history or was it print only?
