got problem? need expert.
I like the version below because the lyrics are clearer. It’s from a Homeland show Anderson played in Rome in June or July of this year. The version up top’s a bit more sonically and visually volatile – and well worth playing loud. Added the juiced up new version because Stilgherrian (see comments) obviously has good taste and found the Rome performance decidedly underwhelming. I’d consider that as a spurious reaction to Anderson’s new work and I’d really like to get hold of Homeland if it ever comes out as an album or DVD – this would also be my recommendation to anyone skecptical about what she’s doing now.

Stilgherrian · Laurie Anderson, improved version

@ stilgherian,
you describe yourself as a broadcaster, thats what you are, indeed. Just broadcasting from home. A journalist would have looked up: Where does this come from? Where was it performed, what was the context? Just follow the youtube link.
Concerning the musical differencies, they are little, live violin and bass do not change much in the musical quality of this song. Thanks that Laurie Anderson still does the same without forgetting to refine her work over the years.
by the way:
Laurie Anderson performed this at Live from Lincoln Center (Episode 188, recorded on May 3, 2007)
t.i.n.a.: nice of you to use a phony email, by the way. Not sure which you’re referring to as one webling has already claimed the solo version as being at a performance they attended in Italy, and I don’t understand your reasons for sniping at Stilgherrian. There is definitely a different feel to each of the performances and if you read any of the latest posts hear you’d have to agree that attributing qualities of inquiry, intelligence, credibility, and impartiality to journalists is to create false idols. But thx for dropping by.
